I have collected a couple of benches from the Holy Trinity Church in Cookham. There are three more remaining, and the vicar is eager for them to be removed asap.
The cost is only £50, but it is the next step I am more interested in. I will be working on refurbishing two of them, but would like to work with as many people who are interested in and/or have place for one in your home/workplace.
My plan is to:
- 1. treat for woodworm
- 2. disassemble
- 3. sand back to the raw wood (it is a very good quality pine – unlike what is grown today)
- 4. replace missing pieces/remove extra ones
- 5. oil/varnish
Please pass this on to anyone else who might be interested in working on this with me. It could be in the evening, once we have managed to get lighting in one of the currently empty Nicholson units.
Many thanks
